Hoist the Duck Flags!!!

Soph and Juby love the Duck Flag we fly from the car window on Duck football weekends. I’ve created little Duck monsters. Whenever they see anyone playing football or basketball (and sometimes golf!?) they yell “GO Ducks!!!" This has gone on for like two years at least, so you know we started the brainwashing early.

This weekend is the first game of the season and we are playing arch rivals of the north The Huskies. And we’re flying the flag. We aren't the betting types but I have noticed the bookies give it to the Ducks by 13 points. And all of the polls have the Ducks ranked around 20th in the nation, before the season even starts. This is all seemingly good news until you think back to just last season when the Ducks were ranked as high as 2nd in the nation. Until quarterback Dennis Dixon, the front runner for the Heisman Trophy at the time, tore his ACL in dramatic fashion on the field. Oregon then proceeded to burn through three more quarterbacks without winning another game until our fifth string quarterback led us to victory in our Bowl game against South Florida. That red shirt freshman QB was Justin Roper.

Fast forward to this season and one might be frightened that prior to the season even starting we’ve lost our new first string quarterback to, you guessed it, a season-ending ACL injury. Luckily our second string QB is now-sophomore Justin Roper.
