This week has been both more normal, and more tedious. We had our services hooked up so I was playing the waiting game. Thursday it was cable, “8-noon.” That ended up being 11:45. Excellent. And the tech guy told me he couldn’t do it at all because our balcony doesn’t face south. So I called the main office thinking we can’t be the first people to run into this. Sure enough, the first thing the gal said was, “Your balcony doesn’t face south.” “So we can’t do it?” I ask. “Nope.” Darn it all. That dvr was the best thing in our lives. The tech guy was apologetic, however. He can’t even get DirecTV at his place, and he works for them! Sigh.
Tuesday was internet, “we guarantee we will be there Tuesday.” No time frame, just “Tuesday.” It was really awesome.
What truly was awesome, however, was that Juliet and I checked out the on-site gym on Wednesday. They have the coolest little playroom for kids in the back. Juby gets to be in the same room with me, essentially, while I work out. I thought it would be hard to stretch her for a 20 minute workout, but after 30 I had to convince her it was time to go. (I bribed her with a quick visit to the pool.)

Friday was the day we had to wait for a “second opinion” on the DirecTV issue. I was told to expect a call between 8 and 9, plus, a call from the moving guy to let me know he was on his way to pick up our boxes. (He had offered back when he finished moving us in. Super nice guy.) Friday was also Sophie’s Bear Parade at school. The theme of her first week was bears, and she had a project to complete at home where we decorated a cardstock bear. Juliet and I shopped for supplies and the bear turned out so cute! We put a fabric t-shirt and shorts on her, painted her toe nails, added a pink puffy ribbon to the edges of her sleeves and neckline, and gave her earrings. Sophie also got to take her favorite bear to school for a parade and picnic at 2:00. (She took the “Tinkerbear” Build-a-Bear that the Wilks’ got her for Christmas a couple years back.) Families were invited.

Kevin actually has Labor Day off, but the trick is that he has to work this Saturday because of the new iPod launch. I’m thinking of sending him with morale-boosting cupcakes for the team, since he already let the "my-wife-bakes" secret out of the bag. I had asked him to wait 2-3 months before saying ANYTHING. He made it halfway through his first morning of his first day. Yeesh.
