Week Three or “Hurricane Hermine”

Yes, after a wonderful 3-day weekend, we met hurricane Hermine. And I know what you’re thinking. Stick an “o” in that name and you’ve got Hermione, as in Harry Potter. I don’t know about anyone else, but my kids would have found that a lot more interesting.

I am now acquainted with both of the seasons here in Texas: summer and hurricane. Say that slowly with a drawl and it’s kinda cool. Weather like this gives us two options for school. Get there late because everyone is trying to drop their kid at the front door, or get there drenched and on time. We chose the latter. And this is not drenched like you would be in Oregon when it rains, this is SERIOUS rain! 6 inches this morning. I had to go back home and change Juliet’s clothes just so we could go back out to the store for rain boots and umbrellas. She was wet through to her undies and I had put her in long pants, a long sleeved shirt, and a rain coat with a hood, AND we used an umbrella! I thought sideways rain in Oregon was bad, but everywhere rain, here, is worse. I couldn’t tell you which way it was coming from. 85 degrees, too. I guess it’s nice it wasn’t cold, or we would have ended up sick!

Well, Hermine is supposed to stay for three days. Maybe I can get some crazy pictures . . .
